I hope to develop experience/skills in Permaculture Design and work helping urban and rural homes become more ecologically regenerative and basic resource autonomous, and someday start a project helping young folk find the means to become inspired by the worlds story to take their place in it making it a better place (rite of passage guidance/inspiration) type thing.

Geoff is one of the Founding members of Bike Pirates, a Toronto local DIY volunteer operated bicycle mechanic education space. He also is the volunteer "Ghost Bike" installer for the city of Toronto, he takes on the solemn and important task of painting and locking up the white ghost bikes that mark the place of Cyclists who have fallen due to often unsafe road infrastructure and or unsafe motorists.
Geoff, personally, is the one of the people who began teaching me about bike mechanics when I was in highschool and volunteered at Bike Pirates, and it is because of that learning that I was able to live my wonderful nomadic 4 years off my bicycle that openeed my mind, heart and understanding of the worlds story around me and thus my whole life. So to Geoff, and to Bike coop structures in general, I owe quite a bit and am very grateful we have people like Geoff in Toronto taking care of fellow cyclists.

After graduating high school I set out on the road on my bike to explore, and headed east towards Halifax. My bike suffered catastrophic failure after 3 days, and I was helped by a kindly mechanic at a local bike store, who showed me how to fix all of the things i should have looked at before leaving on the trip. Since then I've travelled all over North America, and help set up others on their journeys into the great blue yonder. I'm passionate about exploration, learning, and meeting interesting folk. Ride on!
"Chris" Christopher has been riding in Toronto for 15 years and has worked as a professional bicycle mechanic at a busy downtown shop for half of those. He has built hundreds of truly strong wheels. You can rest assured that your bike is in good hands when he comes to work on it!
I've been riding bikes since I was a kid - always loved it.

I've been riding bikes since I was a kid - always loved it. I couldn't live in the city today without the the psychical and physical release of mountain biking in the Don Valley. If you're going to put one thing, I'd say:
"I just love bikes and I believe they have a spirit."

I've been working on bicycles for a solid lifetime. My solid lifetime, at least (or half of it, you get the point!)
Anyways, it has been more than ten years since my mum told me to head to BIke Pirates and build myself a bike. It was either that or walk - she was done paying for the ttc.
I seem to remember crying a lot in the early days of building bikes. They can be unmanageable, finicky creatures with little regard for the time and soul of the mechanic trying to parlay with them.
Wheel truing, bottom brackets and oh-so-many little movings parts. I even wrote a song about my frustration with them!
But at the end of the day, any amount of struggle and tears was worth the learning.
I am always amazed at the efficiency of the bike. I get on and move faster that a lot of cars or public transit. Ever since I built that first bike, I found my freedom in this city. And I work with bikes still because I want everyone else to experience that freedom, and I love being a part of the journey (literally or figuratively.)
I've continued my bicycle journey working at several shops, but mobile repair is the best because I get to be on my bike while getting others riding!
While the poem above does speak a truth about my life, i wouldn't trade what I have.
Keep the chains oiled and tires pumped, and stay free! It's the best life I can live. Make an appointment and see how quickly and conveniently we get you riding again!

My love of cycling started with a little red pedal car that I drove into the ground before I was 5. Ever since my first bike, I learned how to ride, fix and modify my bicycle. The "Big wheel" cemented my love for all things pedal powered and the stage was set. While schooling for Mechanical Engineering, I completed both a recumbent tricycle and a tube chassis dune buggy for 2nd and 3rd year mechanical design projects. Ever since then, I have continued to design, engineer and prototype my own pedal and powered vehicle designs.
The Ecocycle represents a series of 30 vehicles, that I have designed, fabricated and tested. Most are human powered, many were electric, and there's even some gas powered vehicles prototyped as well. However most are largely based on bicycle components. I have studied all aspects of bicycle design from dynamics to frame geometry to wheel building.
I possess a significant understand how all these components work, how they are tuned, and the engineering behind these designs.
I look forward to helping you with your bicycle and any mechanical or electrical challenge you may be having.

Yet, my real journey into bike repair began during my extended bike journeys, where I sharpened my skills for dealing with maintenance issues. Every twist of the wrench felt like preparing for my next big adventure. Since then, I've also been busy at a bike shop downtown and enjoyed the process of bringing vintage bikes back to their former glory for bike lovers across ontario.
These days, though, I keep Toronto cruisin' and bruisin', one bike at a time with Matteo and the rest of this amazing team.
With a toolbox in one hand and a cycling tale in the other, I make sure Toronto's bikes roll smoothly and ride wild!
