If you would like to take a Cycling Safety Course with Can-Bike visit them at www.Canbikecanada.ca . However their courses are often a few hundred dollars, a weekend long and only occur once every couple months or so. Thus why I'm trying to fill the gap as I explain to the right.
--DEFENSIVE CYCLING WORKSHOPS--
-Come benefit from my exp riding 50-100 km a day 3/5 days a week for the past decade fixing bikes around the city. What you learn I guarantee will save you from injury or worse. The video's and content to the left are GREAT, but if you want what you learn to stick more, and to be more specific to you, come out for a ride is best.
6 people max at once
travel fee avg $25-40 to arrive dependant on location
Fee increases if all participants are adults. 13 and under don't count.
1 person- $60/h
2 - $80/h
3 - $100/h
4 - $120/h
5 - $140/h
6 - $160/h
Workshop content is as follows
begins with a stationary tutorial of concepts etc and is followed up by a riding workshop.
beginning with
- How to do safety check a bike
- Proper helmet fit
-Top Safety gear for cyclist and bicycle
- Proper turning signals
-Turning signal technique and timing
-Road positioning when turning or not and its importance for safety in various traffic levels/speeds/road sizes .
-Common Cycling road hazards and how to navigate them (ex. road snakes, train/streetcar tracks, cracks in road, puddles, pot holes, sand, stones etc)
- importance of straight line riding
-Intersection Navigation-Lane changing
-Confidence and how it will save your life. During the ride I watch how cyclists position themselves on the road and thus communicate to the road users around them and we work to optimize that.
